Bill Smith (pictured right) attended ECU and graduated in 1976. Born with Cerebral Palsy, Bill fought to live a normal life, working and living in Washington DC, marrying, and having a daughter.

In 2006, BIll received a terrible Cancer diagnosis and died two years later in February 2008.

Bill’s legacy with his family was to live life hard, to the fullest, and that nothing is given to you.

In 2021, Bill’s Brother Steve created and endowed a scholarship to assist Students with disabilities. You can read more about the scholarship on ECU.edu.
